A good inspection plan starts from the drawing. Critical dimensions, thread standards, sealing faces, mating areas, burr-sensitive edges, and surface requirements should be clear before production.
For prototype validation, request sample confirmation and define which gauges or dimensions matter most. For repeat orders, define sampling level, packing method, and whether thread gauge evidence is needed.
Surface finishing also needs inspection language. Polishing, passivation, plating, blackening, and marking should be reviewed against the functional side of the part.
