CNC MACHINING SERVICES · PROTOTYPE TO BATCH

CNC machining for the metal part in your drawing.

Housings, brackets, plates and ported blocks require more than a generic machine quote. Send the drawing and tell us which faces, bores and fits make the part work; we will review the route before pricing.

WHY BUYERS WORK WITH US

The useful questions come before the first cut.

01

Machining access

Discuss bores, pockets, undercuts and tool reach before assuming one setup is enough.

02

Functional datums

Identify the faces and holes the assembly actually locates from.

03

Quote scope

Agree finish, inspection, sample and packing requirements with the cut part.

IS THIS THE RIGHT RFQ?

Check the scope before you send.

This page is for an individual machined metal component with enough application context to review feasibility.

✓

Good fit for KEC Tour

  • Custom CNC metal parts from a drawing or sample
  • Prototypes and planned repeat batches
  • Defined material and functional features to review
—

Outside this page’s scope

  • Stock machine parts or retail hardware
  • Complete equipment or unverified functional guarantees

OUR SERVICES

Choose the route by geometry and function.

A milled housing, flat bracket and ported body have different setups, datum strategies and inspection needs.

CNC milling

Pockets, faces, hole patterns and ported blocks from released 2D/3D data.

CNC turning

Round features, bores and concentric seats where the geometry calls for it.

Secondary operations

Drilling, tapping, deburring and finishing reviewed against the part.

Inspection planning

Critical dimensions, gauges and first-article evidence agreed before order.

PART-TO-PROCESS MATCH

Inspect the machined shapes closest to yours.

Rotate representative housings, brackets, flanges and ported bodies. Your released drawing determines the actual part.

ENGINEERING SPECIFICATION

Six questions behind a useful CNC quote.

Separate the critical geometry from the dimensions that can follow normal machining practice.

DecisionWhat to defineWhy it matters
Drawing revisionLatest 2D PDF and STEP/STP model if availablePrevents a process plan being based on an obsolete shape.
MaterialAlloy, grade, condition and substitution ruleChanges stock choice, tooling and finishing.
Datum schemeFaces, axes and hole patterns used at assemblyControls setup and inspection alignment.
Critical featuresFits, bores, flatness, position or surface finishShows where tolerance and measurement effort belong.
QuantityPrototype count, batch size and forecastAffects fixturing and cost per part.
After machiningFinish, marking, inspection records and packingDefines the delivered component rather than the raw machined shape.

Use this as a discussion guide. Final requirements come from the approved drawing, application standard and purchase documents.

RFQ FILE PACK

Give the machining team a usable starting pack.

A complete pack reduces clarification rounds. You can still start with a sample or partial drawing.

01

Part files

2D drawing and STEP/STP model; mark the current revision.

02

Application

Mating part, assembly location and function-critical surfaces.

03

Program volume

Prototype and likely repeat quantities with a target date.

04

Acceptance

Material record, critical measurements, finish and packing needs.

No finished drawing yet? Send the sample photo and the dimensions you know; identify what remains undecided.

INSIDE THE WORKSHOP

See the workshop behind the machining route.

The original workshop footage shows machining and part handling. The final machine route, finish and inspection plan depend on your drawing and agreed quotation.

ILLUSTRATIVE ASSEMBLY STUDY

How component interfaces become an assembly.

The illustrative housing/insert/cover animation highlights why bores, seating faces and fastener locations must be defined together. It is not a performance test.

APPLICATION & SOURCING DECISIONS

Choose the part family before choosing the price.

Three common jobs reveal different manufacturing and inspection priorities.

01

Machined housing

Review bore relationships, mounting faces, port access and any sealing feature.

02

Structural bracket

Define the base datum, hole pattern, flatness and finishing exposure.

03

Ported block

Clarify intersecting bores, deburring, cleanliness and the inspection method.

SAMPLE TO BATCH

Approve the sample before the repeat batch.

Carry the approved revision and critical features from the first article into the production order.

  1. 01

    Review the drawing

Identify the material, datums and functional geometry.

  2. 02

    Plan the route

Assess setups, machining access, secondary work and finish.

  3. 03

    Approve a sample

Agree fit and critical measurement evidence on the first article.

  4. 04

    Release the batch

Use the approved revision and agreed checks for repeat supply.

INSPECTION & DOCUMENTATION

Define what must be measured and recorded.

Tolerance, certificate and inspection scope are project-specific. Specify the acceptance method in the RFQ and confirm it in the quotation.

  • Critical-dimension report by agreed scope
  • Material and finish records when specified
  • First-article and batch checks tied to the approved revision
FACTORY DOCUMENTATION

YOUR CONFIDENTIAL DRAWINGS

Need an NDA before sharing files?

Tell us before you upload controlled drawings. We can discuss the confidentiality agreement and the permitted review scope first. Share only files your organization authorizes you to disclose.

BEFORE YOU SEND

Useful answers for your RFQ.

Can I start with only a photo?

A photo can start a feasibility discussion. A dimensioned drawing or approved sample is needed to define a reliable quote.

Do you support prototypes?

Share the prototype quantity and expected repeat volume so the initial route can be compared with the batch need.

Which tolerances are possible?

Tolerances are reviewed feature by feature against material, geometry, process and inspection method; no universal value applies.

Can I request an NDA?

Contact KEC Tour before uploading controlled files to discuss the agreement and permitted review scope.
