DIRECT ANSWER

How KEC Tour reviews aluminum alloys.

KEC Tour reviews drawing-specified aluminum alloys for CNC machining, sheet-metal fabrication and die-cast parts with post-machining. Do not specify only ‘aluminum’; include alloy, temper or casting designation and the required finish.

CHOOSE WHEN

Potential fit

  • Low mass and a useful strength-to-weight balance matter
  • Complex machined housings or brackets are required
  • Anodized appearance or additional surface protection is desired
CONFIRM IN RFQ

Release details

  • Alloy and temper, such as a drawing-specified wrought grade
  • Wrought, sheet or casting raw-material route
  • Anodizing, conversion coating or as-machined zones
  • Cosmetic surfaces, masking and color expectations
ENGINEERING NOTES

Three decisions before manufacturing.

01

Alloy matters

Strength, machinability, corrosion behavior and anodized appearance change by alloy and temper.

02

Thin features

Wall thickness, distortion, tool access and fixturing should be reviewed around the exact geometry.

03

Cosmetic control

Color range, rack marks, masking and acceptable appearance zones should be stated before finishing.

PROCESS MATCH

Manufacturing routes reviewed for this material.

Availability, geometry, quantity and quality scope determine the final route.

MATERIAL EVIDENCE

Ask for documents before the order—not after shipment.

State the material certificate, traceability, inspection and finish-report expectations in the RFQ. Document availability and scope are confirmed per material and order.

MATERIAL FAQ

Questions to settle before release.

Can the drawing say only aluminum?+

That is usually too broad for a controlled quotation. State the exact alloy, temper or casting grade whenever possible.

Can machined aluminum be anodized?+

Yes, subject to alloy, geometry, masking, color and appearance requirements being confirmed.

Can die-cast parts receive critical machining?+

Yes. Critical bores, faces, threads and mounting patterns can be reviewed after the casting route is defined.
